The Green Dragon (Barnet - London)

The Green Dragon
After years of closure and poor service this restaurant/pub has been refurbished and although it is not huge serves its community of fields very well. In short its a pub in the middle of a field and its not cheap either. They have a special concoction of shots behind the bar though so its worth asking about those and they can open later than your average pub being in the sticks but the manager is not very nice and the staff are a little terrible.

Overall the Green Dragon gets a firey 6/10.

Please see above a very accurate map of this pub location. Do not trust other sites that put pubs in the wrong place, I have actually visited this pub and unless it has grown legs it sits exaclty where shown on the map above.

You are so so wrong about the Green Dragon, BARNET.When was the last time you were there? 1986 or something?

Visit it again now and you will see it is fantastic; great atmosphere, lovely staff and great food. give it another go mate.

Last night I was the guest of a very kind gentleman who took me to THE Green Dragon for a meal.He ordered a beer and was given the bottle and a glass eith ice -- but immediately he had to return the glass to the bar as it had a dreadful smell--- he was given a fresh glass!!!! An absolutely dreadful moment.
We both ordred the lamb steak---------- the presentation and gravy were good but the Steaks were very tough and I was so embarrassed to have to eject chewed meat to my plate!!!!!By the end of the evening the fire had gone out and I was decidedly chilly .I do not think I shall want to return to The Green Dragon again!!

Party of 6 adults who wanted to enjoy a late Sunday lunch. The restaurant has been refurbished to a good standard but that is where the compliment ends. The food and service was appalling. An Asparagus starter for £6 should include more than 1 piece of Asparagus cut in half. Followed by Belly of Pork 4 measley pieces of dried chewy meat that had obviously been heated up. The other meals received were of mixed standards. Re-heated potatoes that were tough, according to the manager "this is how they are supposed to be". I did not finish my meal, complained about the standard and the plate was removed. The manager observed this and came back 5 minutes later to ask if there was a problem. I was told that I had enjoyed the food as I had eaten all of it as the plate had been removed, the manager argued this case to me. The manager then left leaving the bar supervisor to deal with my complaint. After 10 minutes of arguing and being called a liar he waivered the bill for the Pork. The bar supervisor then demanded we leave while walking away, unable to look us in the eye.

Do not eat at this over priced pub who instead of doing good hearty food are trying to be a gastro eatery. If you are in barnet and want good pub food, go to The Hadley Oak or The Arkley.

i have been here twice now and i love it - atmopshere is nice and cosy, nice views, and good food. it is quite pricey but the food is worth it, though the portions are quite small.
