The Pit and Pendulum (Nottingham)
The Pit and Pendulum

Another seven deadly sins bar- okay I'm not sure exactly what the name of this chain it but they serve some great cocktails alongside a goth atmosphere and its the best themed chain. This venue in particular is lit up out front by an everlasting flaming torch, and on entering the pounding rock music hits you in a wave of splendour. The interior is large with German medieval decor and heavy middle-aged furniture. There are sculptures of gargoyles on the walls and tons of seating with the toilets behind a bookcase. At first look it seems popular until you realise its got a basement as well with nooks and crannies to get lost in. There are two entrances to this venue on separate streets and two bars both served by friendly staff. Despite the theme it is clean and well kept and the cocktails are £2.75 each. Apparently on Wednesday nights they serve shots at £1 each and even if the novelty wore off the music is totally uplifting.
Overall a 7/10. The only problems were the lack of drinks menus and the slight cold shoulder of some clientele.

As if you could get lost downstairs, you must be a right ninny. Downstairs has around 4 little chambers from the main room, one of the chambers from this main room looks like a huge bird cage and others have surreal meat hooks on the walls, another is really secluded.. (when it's actually vacant). Which is a good thing (Y) because when you sit there at night/evening then you can actually hear what the person next to you is saying. There is nothing wrong with this place, just that every 30minutes or so you feel the rumbles of the building as the trams goes by, especially in the chmabers in the basement as you are underneath the tracks. But yeah I love it, just wish the ignorant under educated, 30 year old, tracksuit wearing, groups of 20 'men' wouldn't come in every now and again and complain about the rock music, when it is the only decent place in nottingham that doesn't play they're rhubarb dance and r'n'b pop music.
Meh. It's totally unique to anywhere else in the centre of Nottingham. Hazard a visit.
