Pat's Pub (Marietta - Second Life)

Pat's Pub

A very cosy Irish pub tucked into some outlandish corner of the Second Life Map. The building is a strange house build with the type of layout you would expect from a  small pub, simple bar at the end with a couch by the window at the front, posters and green carpets. Its possible to sit at the bar but this is where the interaction ends. It appears impossible to ask the red bauble of a barman for a drink so sitting looking at 2d bottles hovering over the bar appears to be the most entertaining to do.

There is no doubt it looks more like a traditional pub than other such second life buildings but this is completely empty and the bottom of the interaction scale and to be fair the outside is not appealing at all either - 3/10

Ye Olde Pub (Numbat - Second Life)

Ye Olde Pub

Positioned quietly next to Ye Olde Shop and Ye Olde Barn, this pub seems to be part of a thatched- stone wall theme of buildings. The courtyard outside offers a nice fountain and a wooden bench to be sociable at. Within is a cosy cabin with low stools, a few tables and an open fire. The pub offers a homebrew from a barrel on the bar and if you go around the back of the bar you can head upstairs for akip on the bed on the first floor.

Overall the cabin-medevil effect is cosy, warming but unfortunately quiet. This place just needs a regular or two to get the feel that this pub was worth its makers time to build but surely a nice place to meet for a quiet drink all the same - 5/10

Sanchon Pirate's Pub (Sanchon - Second Life)

Sanchon Pirate's Pub

This pub not only has base authenticity but it boats barrels full of charisma. This particular trip to dark ghostly shack on the beach showed the place does fall rather empty but it is a wicked venue dispite being small. Its surrounded by Pirate shops and games, free items and treasure and at the end of the escapade you can fall comfortabley onto a rather piratish wooden bench and be served by a rather rnachy looking barmaid. Very good selection at the bar and lots of gimicky posters to look at with some recogniseable brand bottles behind the barmid.

Overall a good slice of virtual pirate pie that any menacing ninja would do well to steer clear of! Come on board for a hearty Rum and coke for what is clearly one of the better themed bars in Second Life - 8/10

Taff's Welsh Bar (Cymru - Second Life)

Taff's Welsh Bar

This interesting welsh edition to the virtual map would confuse any non-welsh speaker with its welsh name hanging over the entrance. Inside is a very well constructed traditional british pub with images all over the walls - games including pool and arm wrestling and despite the fact that you get paid for sitting at the bar there are no drinks available. In the ajoining room is disco which would probably be more approapriate if it was cheesy. Instead it is a rather well managed dancefloor attracting dancers and socialites alike with compeitions going on and lots of options to keep youself amused.

Overall a very diverse bar, the downsides is a lack of ocean view which so many Second Life bars enjoy and without a drink i feel somewhat glum, the facilites however are brilliant and it is worth the visit - 7/10

Red Lion Pub (Thalia - Second Life)

Red Lion Pub and Function Room

The Red Lion Pub is a venue built to cater for small group and is the medium sized capacity club-style bar with an array of novelties including a Pool table, darts, ocean views, a big widescreen tv over the bar and a well spread (yet empty) wooden drinking floor. The bar severes beer from a keg and fridge but essentially beer is the only beverage available. The Red Lion houses no actual occupants - and barmen as sprites are uninviting. Downstairs is the red lion function room to which you can teleport the function room consisting of a dance floor, a few nice chairs and a red bull vending machine.

Overall the red lion is not the pub image you would expect its not appealing, completely empty - feels like it has been a rather half-arsed attempt by its creators who give you the option to contact them directly at the bar yet and like an answer machine service their actual characters are not present at their own creation. 4/10

Tropical Bar (Imagine Cup - Second Life)

Tropical Bar

A couple of Coconut Pina Colada's add the temperate climate of a setting sun on a hot afternoon, a DJ booth some straw huts and a hummingbird or two and you have the makings of a rather clumsily assembled bar lain out on an apparent empty tstrip of lawn on the rather oddly named island of "Imagine Cup". The DJ booth remains empty but the novelty camp fires and seats around large flames makes for an exciting - on the beach style party atmosphere except that the place is dead. not a soul comes here. The bar grants the limiting choice of Beer or Martini and there is little else to be said.

Overall perhaps enough room to bring a crowd and crash this place but it has little character and just seems to be an extension of the scenery which is, in a word, relaxing. 4/10

The Piano Bar (New City - Second Life)

The Piano Bar

A small rather plain looking building houses this attempt at an up market establishment as a Piano Bar. The full interiror is in some way supposed to represent a flood of red velvet and the host is an avatar dressed in a Tuxedo asking you quite politely if you would care for a free beverage. The room is full of tables for couple with candles and on the stage is a piano and a double bass along with a microphone. Indeed the place seems more like a smart dining room crossed with a Jazz bar than a Piano bar as the less-than-appealing etched glass front windows suggest. You are free to standup and use the instruments and mic but there seems little point. People wandering in and out are hardly dressed for the occasion and other than this its empty.

Overall perhaps a different spot to bring a partner but there are far better places out in this, the most diverse of worlds other than a bakery dressed up to look like an empty - couple-proposed jazz bar. 4/10

TJ Ice Place Club (Mediascape - Second Life)

TJ Ice Place Club

One of the most complex clubs in Second Life this Club is literally an enormous pyramid which towers above anything else on this rather exclusive island. offering its residents a chance to dance, earn cash from dancing, pole-dance, and participate in a wide range of games. Drinks are also readily available at the bar for free with a space on the water out the back to dance in to a seperate DJ from the main arena. It is also very popular with no restrictions on the flying rule which means it can often look more choatic than beautiful.

Overall this place has worked very hard to produce a crowd an atmosphere which most clubs in second life truely miss out on you can spend a long time here and meet a lot of exciting people - 9/10

The Bar Square (Pass Out Game)

The Bar Square

Just a yellow square of simplicity and square demeanour this bar is accompanied by a vast network of other coloured squares. It is easily one of the largest and therefore important squares on the pass-out board. The black writing is quite lovely and we are told that one must roll a 7 or 11 to leave the square. Quite a penalty i find, but at least the atmosphere is geared towards drink and merriment. One notices that the word "bar" is very big. The game itself is quite awesome and well worth the play so long as this bar is avoided but it can be the most fun you have ever had in a night.

Overall it is much portrayed as the Jail square of the pass-out game in a similar league to that of the much hated monopoly square but truly this bar puts you well on your way the most disastrous night in years - 9/10

The WAB Nightclub (Wack Attack Bay - Second Life)

The WAB Nightclub

The WAB club is a busy popular venue for shaking your thang in the world of second life. Its a completely square building with a large dancefloor in the center pumping out electro and dance music into the evening. There is a good light show and the place continually seems to attract some big name Dj's in the Virtual arena to spin their discs on the platform above the dancefloor. The bar, unfortunately is just for show and it is not possible to aquire a drink from it. The owner however is very friendly and greets all guests that enter. Aside from that it is foremost a spectacle of what you would really hope to see in a virtual nightclub and there are some fun dance moves to undertake on the multi-coloured dancefloor.

Overall a pretty safe 8/10 a complete shame that you cant buy any drinks though but you have to love the bubble and smoke machines!

TY Casino Club (Louise - Second Life)

TY Casino Club

A rather daunting Casino which seems to be located above the area of Louise in Second Life. Upon teleporting I literally found myself inside an enromous hall with 2 dancefloors either side of a wide Casino floor on which there were slot machines, craps tables and poker. Some of the varied seats offer money for you just to play the games despite the games themselves being expensive. The two dancefloors offer you the option of performing a variety of strange dancemoves and even kiss someone on the dancefloor. The prime feature - a bar at the far end is rather lost among the circus-style layout of the place. Apparently drinks are avialable, but I am not sure how to obtain one and accidently become a bar person!

Overall this Casino Club reamins quiet and yet noisy with features- its difficult to work out what is going on and there is little or no focus on the bar itself so it is somewhat disappointing though nice to sit down and even interract with the show - 5/10

Steve's Bar (Hallasan - Second Life)

Steve's Bar

Steve's bar is really quiet, small retreat in the hills of the island of Hallasan in Second Life. It is basically a white walled building with open door welcoming in guests under the banner of a rather scruffy ameteur looking flag. Inside is a sinly table requesting that women sit on one side and men on the other - for what reason i am unsure and there is a machine in the corner from which dances can be retrieved. I am unable to detect any music as such or sign of DJ and in fact there are no staff here at all as I sit lonly at the bar - the only soul in the place. Thankfully I soon discover the drinks are free and find myself drinking a Long Island ice tea on the Sofa enjoying the view.

Overall a very quiet part of the world to enjoy a free drink so not for the party-goers or souls who might be looking for any level of interraction. How the bar designer has put in a little less than an effort. 3/10

Steve's bar can be found here

Czech Outdoor Bar (Dauntless - Second Life)

Czech Outdoor Bar

A good sized bar sits c omfortably on the beach at Dauntless in Second Life. The disco lights are shimmering and even on the outtretched beaches there are hammocks looking inward at the party scene of the venue. The whole place is open air and providing the weather is good its offers relaxing lounge, rotating bottle bar with snacks and drinks available for free as well as a big dance floor with huge disco ball and unqiue lighting. At night there are few better sights. Once agin the place remains quiet and could really do with a crowd to spice things up but the variety of free objects is unmatched by few other bars and it just feels like this needs 4 walls and a ceiling.

Overall a pretty nice relaxing bar club combination that I am sure would attract folk by the number due to its freebies and layout - probably good on the second world pull - 7/10

Feel free to visit the bar here

Athens Bar (Mindulle - Second Life)

Athens Bar

Athen's bar is a very very impressive Jazz and blues venue in Mindulle in Second Life. From the outside the place is a bold - caeser palace casino style building with black tinted windows and white pillars. One can gain access through the day and night and it just so happened that I arrived when the place was empty. It has a small room off to the right once inside and a large bar with stage to the left. The place obviously fills to capcity because there are few chairs persent except those stools at the bar. I also notice no taps on the bar or any way to aquire a beverage.

Overall its a stunnign venue but needs escalated levels of entertainment if it is to please Lindon's all day long. I am sure that once the place has an actual event on the place gets rammed and it would be wonderful to drink in the precense of virtual jazz superstars yet to grace Athens. If only there was something to drink.. 7/10

A Touch of Ireland (Hatchet Cove - Second Life)

A Touch of Ireland

Wow. I mean I have done plenty of wandering around Second Life (or flying) and I hadn't come across anything like this anywhere else. "A touch of Ireland" is a huge barn-like pub in the thicket of seaside countryside called Hatchet Cove. The place welcome its visitors with cheery calls and the option to buy gifts at the door. Inside the walls are colourful and plastered with Guiness advertising. there is also a crazy duck wheeling around on the floor greeting you occasionally (the only memeber of staff as I can make out). The bar is most of with width of the pub and there is room for live irsih folk acts on the stage opposite the fireplace. Out the back there are quaint picnic tables overlooking the ocean.

Also there is rare whisky avilable for free on the bar and a keg of Guiness. Overall the place would be the dream place to bring a crowd of people, to conviene or party, a shame that I found it empty when it clearly has so much character - 8/10.

Rising Sun Inn (Falador - Runescape)

Rising Sun Inn
This entry is a review of a bar that exists in the virtual world of Runescape, I have reviewed it for fun because I enjoy playing this MMORPG.

This two floor bar in runescape is one of the finer points of the relatively small city of Falador. Any city that boasts a bar over a supermarket or food outlet is all-powerful in my books! On the ground floor are two very pretty barmaids - Emily and Kaylee who offer some of the rarer brews of Ruenscape including the Asgarnian Ale and the acclaimed Wizard's Mind Bomb alongside the standard Dwarven Stout at 3gp each. Upstairs you have another bar-keep - Tina and a "drunken man", as with any good pub the drunken man just proves that this place is worth losing your dignity over being that he is a 24 hour resident.

Overall the bar is light and airy- overlooking the moat of the white knight's castle and provides fine beverages with a pleasureable and friendly service - 7/10

Jolly Boar Inn (Varrock - Runescape)

Jolly Boar Inn
This entry is a review of a bar that exists in the virtual world of Runescape, I have reviewed it for fun because I enjoy playing this MMORPG.

The Jolly Boar Inn is the bar with closest proximity to the wilderness and that means heavy drinking after a long day of slaughtering other players. The bar is quite large and benefits from a number of chairs and tables to socialize around. There are no dodgy characters in here and the barman is friendly and always available to chat. However unless you are intending to head to this corner of the map to do some killing you will almost never pass by this bar dispite its size. Its definitely too far out the way to get very busy and as such it stands as a rather large and lonly structure. How long this bar can afford to keep running is anyone's guess but its likely to be there for a lot longer as long as the PKers have their say.

Overall its the quiet bar in Runescape for its size but its a nice place to relax and have a drink if nothign else. Overall 5/10

Rusty Anchor (Port Sarim - Runescape)

Rusty Anchor
This entry is a review of a bar that exists in the virtual world of Runescape, I have reviewed it for fun because I enjoy playing this MMORPG.

The Rusty anchor is the haven for all things pirate- OOOHH ARRR. It is a top notch pub located in one of the safer areas of freeplay Runescape since all the pirates populating the pubs are falling off thier stools from too much Grog or talking about old tales of buried trasure and parrots. A real cliche environment that puts the pumps next to the punters. Its never over crowded and the place is a good size even if it is only one one floor. The bar tender is informative and friendly and you really dont mind ahanging around for the odd brew since the scenery is pleasent and even the gentle chopping of wood from the willows trees outside is relaxing.

OVerall a nice place to stop for a virtual drink along the port and for some funny looking characters you wont be short of a pirate or three. 6/10

Karamja Spirits Bar (Karamja - Runescape)

Karamja Spirits Bar

Beer Beer
Karamja rum Karamja Rum
Wine Wine

Picture the scene- exotic beaches brimming with Lobster, banana and plam trees moving in the gentle sea breeze and calm all around. Well fancying the odd bottle of rum might very well complete the scene abd heres the bar that just might do it for you. A wodden shack or hut of a bar makes you feel like you are on a virtual holiday in the world pf Runescape. This bar serves up the tradtional ale along with the specialist pirates favourite "Karamja Rum" which is a little on the expensive side but well worth the beverage. Other than that this is a very quiet drinking hole and much recommended if you can be bothered to pay the 30gp for the trip to this island from the mainland.

Overall a very relaxing setting for a drink anytime of the everylasting day - 8/10

Blue Moon Inn (Varrock - Runescape)

Blue Moon Inn
This entry is a review of a bar that exists in the virtual world of Runescape, I have reviewed it for fun because I enjoy playing this MMORPG.

This was the first bar I visited in the world of Runescape. it had a somewhat homely feel with well deocrated interior, traditional bar setup and a friendly bar man. it even appears food is served here with a kitchen at the back but I cannot seem to find any menus. Particularly charasmatic about this bar is the resident drunk called Dr Harlow and there are a few plain residents milling about. I recommend the Frosty beer which is very cheap and pottering about in the kitchen if your a nooby player trying to get your bearings.

Overall a good example of a virtual bar, some other worlds should take lessons from here, still wish my character could sit down on the stools however- 7/10

Barbarian Village Bar (Barbarian Village - Runescape)

Barbarian Village Bar
This entry is a review of a bar that exists in the virtual world of Runescape, I have reviewed it for fun because I enjoy playing this MMORPG.

You realise quite quickly that any bar without an official name is probably just a dig with old picnic benches and vikings wielding giant battle-axes- well you'd be right, its certainly not the sort of place to visit if your feeling fragile. Expect flying fists, swinging axes and drunken brawls. This place is definitely the most untidy  bar in the virtual world of Runescape, glasses and bits of meat are strewn across the bench-like tables and there is almost no escape from the fighting. With barrels filled with free beer there is no wonder everyone seems a little out of it. So bring your empty glass down and grab a pint even if it means getting cut up while you wait for a new glass to re spawn.

Overall its quite a poor excuse for a bar, nothing to drink except old warm keg-beer and risking your life to eat rat-meat off the floor is no-ones idea of a good night out, the game designers don't even let your character sit on the benches!! Only good point is that the beer is free! 1/10
