Mr Smiths
12/08/07 - Mr Smiths has now Closed
This is warringtons largest and most controversial club flooding the town with people in there hundreds once it closes at 3am. There are also kiddie nights herte for under 18s and its all mainly dance and house. An expensive entry leads you down onto the club floor where there is a long bar and table and seating space. The unique design leads the dancer down a rounded shallow staircase onto a packed dancefloor in front of a stage and DJ box. Literally the only place to be late in town. Its got a rep for voilence though and the prices are far nmore worthy of london.
I've not had a good time here in the past which is why I give it a 5/10 but you may like it...

Flares

This is an old classic on the Warrington Bar scene. A fuzz o f 70's and 60's classics blaring out into the streets of this Northern haven. The drinks are supercheap especially on a tuesday and there loads of room to dance even with a floor of lights like in Saturday Night Fever. All the works here and I think the best example of a good Flares Bar. Its a shame I cant find any of these down south, and I dont even like this music. Very fast serving times and friendly staff, open til about 2am.
Overall 7/10

Casi's

Pronounced 'Sassies' this is the only rock club in Warrington and I think it tries really hard to be something its not. You get an air of primary school disco when you enter and look into the faces of 50 something 12 year olds. The Bar is cheap and to your left and as you walk past some seating on your right you reach a DJ booth, where the guy has never even heard of Mindless Self Indulgence and onto the dancefloor, a big space no-mans land without the slightest peek of a mosh pit. To your left now there is a green lit room with more seating and up the stairs you reach other dance floor for what was apparently the same genre as downstairs. The Bar taff were older, rather chatty and pleased with themselves and it certainly produces the rock mood in an RnB town. Its worth the single visit.
Overall it gets a sympathetic 5/10

Chicago Rock (Warrington)

A far cry from any kind of Rock music, this Bar in Warrington is part of a larger chain though I've only ever been to this one. It serves food at has two floors. The drinks are completely overpriced but its an older crowd -ie older than 20. And the music is very commercial with DJs playing at the weekend. The place does tend to get overcrowded but i'd avoid getting friendly on the dance floor as the bouncers can be quite violent. Their bar girls are also pretty hot stuff and the building is as impressive on the outside as the night out is inside. All things considered..
..this bar gets 6/10 because although there is an expense the bargirls make up for it!

McCauley's
I would say this is one of those bars you walk past thinking its a pub and never go inside. Uniquely it is one of the latest opening bars- especially for during the week, and they serve a vast number of cheap cocktails with 2 for 1 special offers. There is some seating with leather couches at the back and space for dancing to popular tunes. the place never seems to get too crowded and you get a sense that although it is a bar everyone knows each other inside. It really is the best bar for the local warrington population and you get the impression they all know each other. Friendly bar staff too.
Overall 8/10

Brannigans

Warringtons nightlife centre of alternative culture. This place feels like an old theatre with a bar stuck where the seats used to be and the dance floor being on stage, you feel very much in the spotlight- even in the low lights. This venue is playing the best of Hiphop and Rnb in what opens as a dingy seedy bar but reveals comfortable seats and lots of booty. The drinks are a little highly priced for warrington and this attracts an older crowd that can afford it. The toilets are a disgrace though, watch out for the steep stairs in heels ladies!!
Overall a refreshing 6/10 because this club delivers an experience that you cannot find elsewhere in Warrington.

Torch

For starters you will need one when you go in. Even on the busiest nights in town you feel like you've stumbled into an oversized wardrobe. Oh wait theres a light at the end, yes definitely, oh its a bar but no the barman wont serve you cos hes chatting to the only other person in the place. When you do get served you realise their drinks selection is poor and then so are you because of the prices. The trick is you cant see the door on the way out so you stay in there forever hahahahahaha.
Not funny, not nice either. a poor 2/10.only good if you like darkness or loneliness.

Bar Tempo
This somewhat circular bar is difficult to find unless you have been there before or you know someone who knows where it is. You see it when you drive past but finding it when you are in town is difficult. They have good deals on a number of shooters as well as good prices on beer and wine. Bottles are overpriced as usual. The dancefloor is the centerpiece of this quiet night out and the upstairs appeared to be off limits. Because of the lack of crowds this can be a very enjoyable weekend evening where drinks take only moments to recieve accorss the bar and you can actually see the location of your friends from accorss the room.
Overall Bar Tempo gets a 6/10.

Edisons Bar
[UPDATE] :June 2006: Edisons Bar in Warrington has now closed permanently.
Edisons has a dancefloor with a good Dj and seating over the dancefloor in like a lowered galley, around the corner is a bar and then upstairs another and then upstairs a pool and air hockey area. A very diverse and entertaining establishment. The place is not too publisised and has quite a well hidden entrance so never gets too overcrowded and theres plenty of seating. This bar has quite a few promo nights as well, my favourite is tuesday- student night. One pound to get in. Everything and i mean EVERYTHING is a pound each. Easily the best value for money on the planet. Every trip to the bar I bought a pint of cider, a bottle of reef and a shot of blue aftershock at a £3 total . WASTED.
Edisons is amazing and their food is getting better too. Overall 9/10
